International education software is consolidating into closed ecosystems, where choosing a platform increasingly means being locked into its enrolment features, quoting and payment rails.

The NexPay group is building the opposite. NexPay, its regulated cross-border payment service, continues to run standalone — and is now also available inside Qualy, the group’s payment-automation platform, which embeds other payment providers and routes each payment down the best rail for its corridor. Nothing is bundled: institutions can use NexPay without Qualy, use Qualy without moving their payments to NexPay, and add AI automation workflows when they are ready.

For institutions, the practical change is reconciliation: every payment arrives matched to the right student, course and invoice — no anonymous deposits, no hand-matching — with splits to OSHC, enrolment and materials fees handled automatically.

For education agencies, the change is how commissions move. As institutions and regulators push for greater transparency around agent commissions, the combined platform splits and pays commissions automatically — to bank accounts verified against NexPay’s beneficiary database, with an audit trail behind every payout.

NexPay has spent 15 years in the corridor — more than AU$600 million in tuition processed for 4,000+ partnered agents and schools across 82+ countries, regulated in Australia, the UK and Canada — built on one belief: behind every transfer is a family making probably its largest payment of the year, and an institution that needs certainty it has arrived.

Piew Yap, CEO of NexPay, said, “Issues will always arise in cross-border payments — anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something. What matters is what happens next. Everyone knows the industry pattern: passed between departments, kept in the dark for weeks. At NexPay the team that takes your payment works it with you until it lands. We understand what each payment means to the family behind it — and to the university waiting on it.”

Raphael Arias, CEO of Qualy, added, “We’ve met colleges with a million dollars sitting in the account, unable to say whose it was. The sector is drifting toward walled gardens, where choosing software means being forced onto its payment rails. We’re building the opposite — automation that works with the payments setup you choose. NexPay adds deep Latin America–Australia, UK and Canada coverage and human service that matters enormously in education. Corridor by corridor, the best rail wins.”

NexPay is available to Qualy education partners now, following NexPay’s recent brand refresh, new website and customer portal. Existing customers access it without changing how they work.
